< Bald ist wieder Moot Court Zeit....
5. February 2012

Moot Court time is coming soon again...

.... at this time Vienna turns into the juridical center of Europ. To be precise the Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court takes place an international competition for students of law.

Well to explain it a bit in detail (and to quote Wikipedia :-)) A moot court is an extracurricular activity at many law schools in which participants take part in simulated court proceedings, usually to include drafting briefs (or memorials) and participating in oral argument. The term derives from Anglo Saxon times, when a moot (gmot or emot) was a gathering of prominent men in a locality to discuss matters of local importance. The modern activity differs from a "mock trial", as moot court usually refers to a simulated appellate court or arbitral case, while a "mock trial" usually refers to a simulated jury trial or bench trial.Especially the large international compentitions play an important role for the students. And one of those takes place now for the 19th time in Vienna. So for that reason my dear readers please do not wonder if at the end of March until Easter lots of young people make their way through Vienna and are likely to ask for the way to the Juridicum.

But what's the reason I am writing about the Moot Court you might ask, because what has this to do with the apartments? Believe me, a lot :-) If this year is likely to become like the years before, we host some of the teams here in Ferchergasse. In the last years we had teams from Brazil, the USA, South Africa, Germany,... a diverse mix from all over the world. On some days it got a bit hectial as our office was declared to be the center of preparations.

And to make a bit self-advertisment, the Appartements Ferchergasse are really very suitable as an accomodation. To the Juridicum it only takes you 20 minutes, we offer enough space even for larger groups and don't forget about Christian and me who help you wherever it is possible :-) One team already booked their flats, but there are still some apartments available :-)

In that sense I wish all the teams good luck for their preparations and all my dear readers and guests a pleasant Sunday evening.

Yours Sincerly
Stephanie
